Reederei Hadynski · Pier opposite Berlin Cathedral
A glass-roofed boat leaves the pier opposite Berlin Cathedral for a one-hour loop through Mitte, with a guide on the microphone in German and English. Pick it because a real person is talking: on most big Berlin boats, English comes from a handset.

Reederei Hadynski is a small Berlin operator with two glass panorama boats, the MS Carola and the MS Franziska. Both leave from a pier on Anna-Louisa-Karsch-Straße, straight across the water from Berlin Cathedral. The roof is the selling point on a grey day: it slides shut in seconds when it starts to rain and opens fully in warm weather. The operator says the boats are heated in the cold season, there's a small bar for beer and coffee, and there's a toilet on board.
The other reason to book is the guide. Most of the big companies broadcast German commentary and give you an audio handset for English, which means you're always a few seconds behind what you're looking at. Here a guide talks live, in German and English, and you can ask questions. The flip side: everything gets said twice, so each language gets the short version. If you want long stories, the bridges tour has more time for them (in German).
Know the route before you book. This is the one-hour Mitte loop: Museum Island, the Cathedral, the Reichstag and the government quarter. It does not reach the East Side Gallery, which sits a few kilometres upstream. The boats are not wheelchair accessible, guests have to manage stairs, and party-focused stag and hen groups are turned away. The season runs from March to 31 December, and Hadynski's next season starts on 6 March 2027.
The pier is on Anna-Louisa-Karsch-Straße 2, opposite the Cathedral, a short walk from S Hackescher Markt or Alexanderplatz. The boat docks about 25 minutes before departure.
Boarding closes five minutes before the start. Sit near the front of the glass cabin if you want to see the guide, or go outside on a warm day.
The boat loops past the Cathedral dome, the museums on the island and the old centre, with the guide switching between German and English.
On to the Reichstag, the Bundestag buildings along the river and back to the pier.
You step off where you started, five minutes from Hackescher Markt's bars.
