Reederei Becker · Caprivibrücke, Charlottenburg

Dinner on the Spree as the lights come on

Reederei Becker's evening cruise boards at Caprivibrücke in Charlottenburg and sails east through the government quarter to Museum Island and back, with a glass of Prosecco and a three- or four-course meal at a reserved window table. Book it as a dinner with a view rather than a sightseeing tour.

Spree Dinner Cruise with Prosecco

About this experience

Reederei Becker is a family-run Berlin company, and this trip runs on its MS Der Fliegende Holländer. Boarding starts at 18:00 at the Caprivibrücke in Charlottenburg and the boat leaves at 18:30. There are 12 tables for at most 72 guests, all reserved and by the windows, under a glass roof, with open deck space and toilets on board.

The meal comes in two versions. According to Top10 Berlin, the three-course Berlin Dinner Cruise includes the welcome Prosecco and one more drink, while the four-course Capital Dinner Cruise includes unlimited drinks. Vegetarian menus are available if you ask when you book. Extra drinks at the bar are cash only. The route goes from Charlottenburg past Bellevue Palace, the Chancellery and the Reichstag to the Cathedral, Museum Island and the Nikolaiviertel, then back. An audio commentary covers the sights, and you can switch it off.

Two things to know. The "illuminated landmarks" depend on the season: in June it's still light when you get back, while from late October it's dark from the start. And the cancellation terms are not consistent across sellers: one says free up to 24 hours, another says non-refundable. Check the terms on the listing at checkout. Children from 4 are welcome, but it's set up for adults and couples.

Tips before you book

  • Pick the four-course option if you plan to drink more than one glass after the Prosecco. Extra drinks are cash only.
  • Ask for a vegetarian menu when you book. It isn't guaranteed on the night.
  • For lit landmarks the whole way, book from October to March. In midsummer you'll sail mostly in daylight.
  • Allow time to find the pier: it's below the bridge and reached by stairs from the Wintersteinstraße side.
  • Read the cancellation terms at checkout. Sellers disagree on whether this trip is refundable.
